Nature is at the heart of the paintings by Christian Fournier, alias Christian de Sornard.

However, the artist transposes natural elements into a pictorial language combining realism and symbolism, with occasional expressionist accents that add an authentic emotional dimension. At first glance, his landscapes and other compositions seem familiar and faithful to their models, but the viewer gradually discovers that the painter has departed from reality to create a personalised, stylised vision of the visible world.

 Solidly constructed compositions, bold chromatic scales, powerful strokes and brushstrokes reveal spaces revisited by the sensibility of Christian de Sornard, who tackles subjects that reflect contemporary life as well as more traditional pictorial scenes.
